Description

This Pennsylvania Dutch barn hex design would be excellent as a rustic kitchen art print, print on wood or canvas print for your traditional or updated country kitchen decor. Awesome as a house warming gift or Thanksgiving greeting card!

I added some barn wood texture to my dad's distelfink hex design. Based on traditional Pennsylvania Dutch hex signs painted on the side of barns in Pennsylvania, Ontario and many other Mennonite communities, these symbols were meant to protect, bless and symbolize the wishes and desires of the owners of the farm and all welcome visitors.

A distelfink is a bird that represents beauty, wonder and mystery on earth. This double distelfink, birds of paradise design represents happiness, good fortune and marriage. The three tulips symbolize faith, hope and charity. The green leaves represent life and vitality and, of course, the heart is a symbol of love.
