The sad little boy in this painting fell asleep in the doorway while waiting for the rain to stop so he could go out and play baseball. His new puppy has also fallen asleep. Both seem unaware that the sun has come out in the meantime. A rain-drenched umbrella on the front porch, a yellow raincoat hanging on the doorknob to dry, muddy puppy footprints and water puddles on the floor tell the story of restless anticipation during the rain.
Although I painted this watercolor many years earlier, this painting is a reflection of the emotions of the 2020 Covid baseball season.
