Artist's Description
MILL CREEK AUTUMN WOODS SUNRISE is a colorful oil on hardboard painting of vibrant autumn maple leaves against the morning haze of a misty sunrise streaming through the woods.
This oil painting of a northern woodland creek at sunrise is loosely based on a photograph of a mountain creek taken by photographer, Tony Clark (also on FAA) called REFRESHING WATERS. Although I used his photo as reference (with permission) to lay out my rocks and stream, I decided to make this an autumn sunrise scene in the woods of our northern climate. For details of the maple leaves in the foreground, I used my own photo of a branch of a maple tree in our back yard as reference. The rest of the painting is based on my experience, memories and imagination. In order to make the scene believable, I had to make sure that my light source for the entire scene was consistent.

About Hanne Lore Koehler
