Artist's Description
Short days and long nights define Canadian winters and when the sun actually graces the brief daylight hours, it is an irresistible attraction. I captured the fleeting winter sunset with my camera as I passed this woodland creek near our home and painted this original watercolor image using that photo as reference in the warmth of my studio. It's always a greater thrill to paint a cool winter creek scene on a hot summer day. A Canadian artist can't help but be influenced by Canada's climate. As each new season interprets its own version of the landscape, defining seemingly endless varieties of terrain in breathtaking beauty, I too feel compelled to paint my rendition of the spectacle. About Hanne Lore Koehler
CONTACT ME for painting commissions and inquiries about original paintings. Born in Aachen, Germany, I grew up in Ontario, Canada, where I still live with my husband (the love of my life) and family, from which comes the inspiration for much of my work. My vibrant watercolors, acrylic and oil paintings cannot be labelled in only one category. My paintings reflect my life: enriched with excitement as well as quiet times. My fascination with capturing a flash of movement in a motionless art form is evident in my sports paintings and energetic portraits.
