Artist's Description
This cookie mold was designed and hand-carved by Otto Werner. Like a true Canadian immigrant, he combined the traditional old-world art of hand-carving cookie molds with the new world of Waterloo County (Ontario) Pennsylvania Dutch Hex Signs to create this stunning design. This piece called "Junge Liebe" (Young Love) heart/love is a wonderful solid piece with a very smooth surface, this Hex sign design carving is very beautifully detailed and the cutter is skillfully incorporated into the carving.
Designers, this makes a marvelous framed art print with mat behind glass or canvas art print by itself or in a grouping with item #9 and #11. About Hanne Lore Koehler

Dear Hanne, I love that you are featuring you dad in this gallery! His work is so beautiful! His story sounds so much like my dad, who was born in 1928 and was still going strong until a stroke this summer affected his speech. As a young man he worked with his father and brother painting billboards! He went on to be the Art Director at a local Glass factory, but did fun art in his free time! He did many wonderful wood carvings as well. He really loved carving Welsh Love Spoons that are so intricate it just boggles my mind! We are half a world apart, but we have such similar stories! I know how special these works must be to you! It is really lovely!....fav/v7
