Description
A passing thunderstorm hangs briefly over a northern lake, a slight interruption to the warmth of late autumn sunshine. As a chilly wind sweeps in from the west, the sun appears to be chasing the deep blue storm cloud shadows across the lake, over and through undulating hills into the fading distance. In the foreground, leaf bare birch trees with brilliant white birch bark glowing in the sun are a striking contrast and accentuate the drama.
A PASSING STORM is a close-up section of my original painting called LISTEN TO THE RHYTHM.

This is marvelous, Hanne. What caught my attention immediately was the way that the dark clouds suggest the shape of the tree leaves were it a different season. The white branches stand out beautifully against those clouds.

Oh my, I love this! I appreciate that the color palette is somewhat minimal, and the white branches against the dark clouds! Magnificent. And then I noticed the concentric ripples in the foreground. Perfect!
