Description
From this vantage point, known to the locals at Six-mile Lake in Muskoka, Ontario as Inukshuk Look-out, you can see life more clearly as the glorious summer sun sets in the shimmering lake. This Inukshuk was built by a young man named Mike after recuperating from a near-death experience. It was this pristine view of the world and a sunset scene like this where quiet contemplation recharges the spirit, that inspired him to let the world know that he had been there. Building an Inukshuk, a stone monument in the image of a man, in the tradition of the Inuit of the north was his way of saying "Mike was here".

Your work gives this scene a feeling of permanent beauty, something that will last forever, even though the structure may not.

Stacking rocks like that takes an incredible knowledge about balance and inner balance. Then you painting it in a forever scene gives it life forever.

Beautiful story Hanne! By painting this beautiful Inuksuk, Mikes story will be retold many times and as well, how the building of an Inuksuk brought some essence of being and grounding to himself. You captured all this with your wonderful watercolor expression and display of colors and composition. vf mm

Fascinating painting and story, Hanne! I pause… and think about the people who walked a trail before me whenever I see a small monument of stones, especially, when others are compelled to do the same, and erect their own stacked stones. I think about these strangers saying hello across the passage of time. Very welcoming colors and composition, Love it! L&F
