Description
I painted this watercolor portrait about seventeen years ago for young Borden's mom and dad. Apparently, Borden, like most boys his age, wanted to be just like his dad, who was the supervisor of a road building crew and operated enormous earth moving monsters and heavy road building equipment. After a hard day at play with his heavy Tonka trucks, graders and excavators in the dirt pile, Borden always needed a bath. As reference for my painting, I used a photo taken by his mom who wanted him to be squeaky clean in a portrait, which seemed to be only right after a bath. Sweet little Borden, so huggable here in his cuddly bath towel, is now in his twenties.
This is a hand-painted portrait on Arches 300 lb. watercolor paper (11" x 15") done by using a client-supplied photo as reference as if the child were sitting in my studio.
